I am an electronic composer, audio engineer, and bassist.  I have been playing, writing and recording music for 15 years or so now.  I have been involved in music since I started playing sax in the sixth grade band. I experimented with a variety of instruments including sax, tuba, bassoon, and guitar before settling on bass as a primary instrument.  The main reason for playing so many different instruments was a push from my band director to go to college, major in music education, and become a band director myself.  Instead, I became a biology major and kept playing and writing on the side for my own enjoyment.
I started playing bass in 1991 in a metal garage band called Mr. Hateful.  My initial interest in bass stemmed from neccessity (Mr. Hateful had 3 guitar players and a drummer, someone had to play bass!).  Later, I started playing in a prog band called The Change with my bass and theory teacher, Scott Ambrose.  I also spent several years playing in country cover bands, most notably a two-year stint with Shane Thomas in a band called Allegheny.  I've had a couple of different projects with Brad Napier including Dick Napier and the Mundane Warriors and Burning Ohio. Currently, I am trying to put together a new working cover band (Funk, Blues, Classic and New Rock) and have started the 3rd incarnation of the Dick Napier series. What will it be called? We'll just have to wait and see.
During my years of playing in other bands, I have been writing in a combination of styles trying to find my own musical identity.  My first album, "Curiosity and Pondering", was completed in 2004, but is now being converted into production music (i.e. tracks to be used in video production) for D. A. Dick Production Music.  Electronic copies of some of the tunes are available in the Music section.  I write most of my music using sequencers and synths then add "live" bass and guitar tracks using a Digital Workstation (DAW).
